Meet the Artist + Artist Talk: Eva Rocha
Mar 03, 2023
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Meet artist Eva Rocha, whose new exhibition HAVE YOU SEEN The Dark Parrot? opens on March 3.
You can meet Rocha in the galleries from 6-7 pm, then join us in the Museum’s Auditorium at 7 pm to hear her speak about the works on view.
In HAVE YOU SEEN The Dark Parrot?, Rocha presents a multimedia installation built off her research of sixteenth-century explorers’ journals and other colonial narratives perpetually impacting Indigenous Peoples and their descendants – and consequently present in the Latinx diaspora.
Through a display of contemporary art appropriating the aesthetic language of artifacts and their consumption via a Eurocentric zoomorphic gaze, HAVE YOU SEEN The Dark Parrot? searches to open a dialogue about the historic cannibalization of Indigenous cultures in a parallel, unseen art history.
No registration required – free and welcoming to all!
