Summer Camps

Stretch the imagination and expand art skills through the TMA summer camps! Camp participants will draw inspiration from our galleries, special guest artist demonstrations, creative exercises and activities. Each week of camp will explore a variety of artistic techniques, styles, and materials. An art show will take place on Friday of each week of camp, showcasing the work by camp participants for their friends and families to enjoy. **Registration now open! Download flyer here

Members who register on or before April 15th, receive an extra $10 off!

Multiple camp and sibling discount: Sign up for 1 camp at the regular rate and take $10 off for each subsequent camp or sibling registration!

Ages 5-7:

Blue Horses, Pink Sky

Animals have been a favorite subject matter of artists for centuries!  In this camp we will explore the variety of ways animals have been drawn, sculpted and painted through the art and artists in our summer exhibits.   Campers will draw inspiration from art by European Masters such as: Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas, and George-Pierre Seurat.   We will explore a variety of materials and techniques to create paintings, sculptures and drawings!

Artful Treasures

Do you like to make art that glitters and catches the light!  Let Judith Leiber’s sparkling exhibit, Earthly Delights exhibit inspire your young artist to create a multitude of colorful, eye catching sculptures, collages, paintings, books, and treasure boxes in this exciting week of camp using a variety of sparkling jewels and shiny materials

Draw with Degas, Paint with Picasso, Sculpt with Rodin

Do you enjoy drawing, painting, and sculpting?   Be inspired by the work of these European Master Artists to create in a variety of technique and styles.  Learn to use a wide variety of classic artist materials such as graphite, ink, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, clay, wire, as well as many newer materials including pastel pencils, art sticks, paint pens, watercolor pencils, and polymer clays.

Ages 8-11:

Seurat's Dots, Van Gogh's Trees, Magritte's Magic

Do you love to draw and paint? If so this camp is for you!  Inspired by the artists in the exhibit, From Picasso to Magritte and the museum’s permanent collection we will learn about the master’s techniques and then create our own watercolors, acrylic canvases, and pastel and graphite drawings.  We will learn about the styles and techniques of Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism and even try out Plein Air painting on the museum’s balcony.

Out of the Box Art

Contemporary artists are experimenting with nontraditional and recycled materials to create unique paintings, collages, assemblages, and sculptures.  Be inspired by the work of contemporary artist, Martin Johnson’s exhibit FOR Instance to create your own one of a kind art that transforms ordinary found objects into extraordinary art!  We will work with recycled and traditional materials such as cardboard, wire, clay, as well as foil, wood, and paint to create our Out of the Box Art.

Ages 10-14:

Ceramic Magic

Explore the world of clay in a whole new way!  Draw inspiration from the museum’s collection of pottery to create your own vases, figure sculptures, wall plaques, boxes and even ceramic jewelry.  Try your hand at wheel-throwing on our new table top wheel!  Learn the basic hand building and wheel -throwing techniques to bring your creative ideas to life!

Animation Exploration

Do you love anime art, sculpture, and drawing?  This camp is for you!  Draw inspiration from Motomichi Nakamura multi – media artist, VJ, toy designer, and sculptor.  We will create our own anime creatures, mini graphic novels, and sculptures.
